The Taiwanese government requires all public schools and registered private schools to employ teachers with a government teaching license (US), QTS (UK), SACE (South Africa), any government-registered certificate, or at a minimum, a substitute teaching license. If you wish to work at a public school, you will need to have an unrestricted teaching license and a degree from an accredited University/College, which is listed on the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. |

Should I get a health check in my home country or in Taiwan? |
It is not necessary to get a health check for your work permit, but the school does require that you do this. You must do it in Taiwan after you arrive as it is only valid for three months |

What is the peak season of recruitment for Taiwan's public schools? When should I apply? |
The peak season of recruitment is May to August. The new school year starts in August and September. This is the best time to apply. However, we are always recruiting and positions become available throughout the year. So feel free to apply anytime. |

What is a typical work schedule? |
Public school teachers usually work from 8AM- 4PM, Monday to Friday. Actual teaching hours are about 20-24 hours per week, with the remaining time spent preparing for classes and meeting with your co-teacher and colleagues. You may also need to assist with school activities outside of the standard work hours, such as Christmas or a sports day. Language school teachers typically work in the afternoon and evening, Monday to Friday. Some schools have Saturday morning classes. Teachers are sometimes required to participate in holiday activities or other activities outside the classroom. This depends on the school. |
Will there be any training or orientation prior to work? |
There will usually be training and orientation during the first week of school. |
What are the tax and health insurance policies for foreign teachers in Taiwan? |

Is there a maximum number of overtime hours I can be assigned per week? |
No, but teachers rarely need to work overtime. Most public school teachers are required to work 40 hours a week. If overtime hours are required by a school, e.g. during a school event, most schools offer compensatory leave to make up for the overtime hours worked. |
Will you help me enroll my children in school and find a job for my spouse? |
It is recommended to come to Taiwan by yourself and then apply for your family's ARCs once you are settled. We will help you to apply for your family members’ ARCs, and to enroll your children in school. We can also help your spouse find a teaching position if they are eligible. |
May I bring my pet? Is there a quarantine for animals? |
Pets will be detained in a post-entry quarantine facility for 7- 90 days (It depends on which country the pets are imported from and other conditions) after inoculations. |
